In 2006, inspired by the barefoot runners of Africa, ECCO started the BIOM Project. A project that would see the dawn of an entirely new shoe technology.
Anatomically Correct
Anatomically Correct flex grooves following the bio-mechanics of your foot enhances natural movement by providing better push and maximum forward movement.
Low-to-the-Ground
Low-to-the-ground construction allows the foot to react naturally to the ground for improved stability, creating ground feedback and encouraging leg muscles to strengthen with every step.
FLUIDFORM Technology
ECCO’s signature comfort comes from maintaining the anatomical integrityof the foot within the shoe. While working under the feet, the FLUIDFORMprocess simultaneously generates a durable, supple and integral bond between the sole and its leather upper.
Glove Like Fit
We have designed an anatomical last that matches the natural curves of the foot. This, combined with soft and durable ECCO leathers, or bonded textile uppers results in a glove like fit.
BIOM Natural Motion
BIOM stands for ‘Biomechanical optimization.’ – Which is just technical speak for the best way your body can move. The foot is a masterpiece of engineering. It adapts to different surfaces, absorbs impact, and responds to stress by getting stronger. Yet the excess cushion and “motion control” of traditional sport shoes inhibits the foot from using its own systems. ECCO created BIOM to let the body absorb impact the way nature designed it. The technology enhances the foot’s ability to move more naturally- like barefoot running.The technology is developed to guide your feet to activate their systems for shock absorption and motion.
